ARTIST NOTES
James Madison, the 4th President of the United States (1809-1817), is known as the “Father of the Constitution” and one of the most influential architects of American democracy. His contributions to the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the foundation of the American political system established the framework for the U.S. government and its guiding principles. Madison’s presidency was also defined by the challenges of the War of 1812, which tested the strength and resilience of the young republic.
President Madison famously said "If Men were angels, no government would be necessary."
President Trump, during his 2024 campaign, proposed changes to the structure and interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, aiming to expand presidential powers and alter the balance among federal branches to make America stronger. He is seen discussing the constitution, current day challenges and potential amendments to keep up with the times with President Madison.
